Riverdale, N.Y. - The College of Mount Saint Vincent's women's soccer team were once again featured in the Skyline Conference playoff picture and were looking to capitalize on their run to the semifinals from a year ago. Despite a valiant effort, the team fell short of their goal, as they were outed from the postseason at the hands of St. Joseph's College - Long Island in a 4-0 shutout.
The Dolphins struggled to get much of anything on the offensive end, as they were only able to put four shots on goal throughout the 90 minute contest. Junior
Amy Cohen and freshman
Madison Schultz were the only players had two apiece, while freshman
Cristina Britton shot twice herself. Meanwhile, the Golden Eagles were off and running from the get-go, as they scored their first goal before the eight minute mark and netted two more in the first half. Senior goaltender
Meaghan Cleary had an admirable contest, as she saved six of the 10 shots that came her way.
While the finish may be disappointing now,
Katie Gebhard's team has a strong amount of building blocks for the coming years. With key players like Britton, Schultz, Cohen,
Paulina Mandujano,
Morgan Pavlik,
Alyssa Santeramo,
Julia Leggett,
Meagan Duffy,
Christine Laskowski and
Grace Barry, among others, returning next year, the future in Riverdale is bright.
