How It Happened

Set 1
CMSV and the Bloodhounds traded points throughout the set, with high paced action and both teams playing high quality volleyball highlighted. Game one featured six ties and four lead changes. It was not until the end of the set that there was a lead greater than two. John Jay took the lead 22-19 and never looked back as they went on to win the set 25-22. CMSV had contributions from all over the roster in set one.

Set 2
CMSV looked to have found themselves in set two of the day as they played extremely well and jumped out to a huge 16-9 lead thanks to terrific serving from Alexandra Rio who propelled the Dolphins to a 7-0 run in the middle of the set. The Dolphins seemed to be in control until a very late John Jay run. The Bloodhounds cut the lead to 24-22 very late but the Dolphins turned to freshman Samantha Schroeder, who closed out set two with a kill.

Set 3
Set three was almost identical to the first set of the evening, with a ton of back and forth action; but here, the roles were reversed, and the Dolphins came out on top with a 25-22 victory and a 2-1 lead in sets. CMSV was flying all over the court, getting huge kills from Schroeder and junior Tara Maloney with Rio continuing to serve well for the Dolphins. This all around effort from the Dolphins will need to be continued if they want to make a run in the conference playoffs

Set 4
The Dolphins came out on fire in set four thanks to Schroeder, who did a little bit of everything today. The freshmen opened up the set with back to back aces and continued serving well and helped CMSV jump out to an early 8-2 lead. The Dolphins never looked back and held a commanding lead throughout the set. The Dolphins were led by Schroeder but she was not the only freshmen who had an impact this evening, as both Alexandra Madden and Madison Gale were also top performers for the Dolphins.

What's Next?
