Box Score Riverdale, N.Y. - After splitting a two-game stretch during the Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament last week, the College of Mount Saint Vincent returned to Skyline Conference action on Tuesday night and went on to defeat the College of Old Westbury by the score of 93-84. The victory moved the Dolphins to 6-5 on the season with a 4-2 record in conference play, while the Panthers fell to 3-7 (2-3).
Despite trailing by five at halftime, the 93 points CMSV scored currently sits as a season high. The team received major contributions from standout senior Ammad Alkhulaidi, who shot 13 of 17 from the floor, en route to a 34 point performance. The forward also chipped in on the glass, as he pulled in a robust 20 rebounds while also dishing out nine assists. It was Alkhulaidi's third double-double of the season.
But it wasn't only the big man that stood out for the Dolphins. Senior guard Jose Maestre, too, had a strong outing against Old Westbury, as he sported a field goal percentage of 77% - including converting six of eight three point attempts - resulting in a 21-point outing. Senior
Andrew Curiel performed admirably on the boards (six points, 10 rebounds) while freshman Makai Johnson came off the bench and scored 14 points. As a whole, CMSV converted on 48% of their field goal attempts while causing Old Westbury to turn the ball over 16 times.
The Dolphins will return to action on Thursday night when they take on St. Joseph's College - Long Island in front of their home fans at the Peter Jay Sharp Center.
