Box Score Riverdale, N.Y. - On the heels of an impressive victory against St. Joseph's College - Long Island, the College of Mount Saint Vincent attempted to keep their winning streak against Skyline Conference opponents on Wednesday night when they took on Maritime on their home court. The attempt proved to be successful, as the Dolphins walked away with a 58-51 win, bringing their overall record to 8-5 on the season, including a 6-2 mark in conference play. The Privateers' loss puts them below .500 on the year (6-7, 3-6).
CMSV's defense played a large part in the team's victory, as they forced Maritime to shoot just 29% from the field, including an anemic 19% from beyond the arc. At the same time, they also caused the Privateers to turn the ball over 10 times throughout the contest. And while they were doing their part on defense, the offensive end was just as impressive.
Ammad Alkhulaidi continued to have a dominant senior campaign, as he posted his fifth double-double of the season with 18 points and 15 rebounds. With those numbers in the books, the forward now averages 14.4 points and just under 10 rebounds per contest. Guard
Jose Maestre, too, had a strong evening, as he sported a robust stat line of 13 points, seven rebounds, three assists and one block. The trio of
Brian Brooks,
Jason Barrera and
Mike Mulligan came off the bench and combined for 13 points.
With three straight Skyline Conference victories and a four-game winning streak overall, it's clear that the Dolphins are playing their best brand of basketball this season. They will look to continue their winning ways on January 13 when they go head to head with Purchase College at the Peter Jay Sharp Center.
