POTSDAM, NY - The CMSV Men's Soccer team opened up play for the 2017 season on Friday afternoon, taking on Plattsburgh St in the opening game of the Potsdam College Cup. The Dolphins were shutout by the Cardinals, falling 8-0.
The Cardinals controlled play for the entire 90' of action outshooting the Mount 24-2. Chris Robertson scored both of his goals in the opening 22' for Plattsburgh, while teammates Jimmy Marchena and Kyle Pfaff scored in the first half, giving their side a 4-0 lead at halftime.
Plattsburgh scored four more times in the second half, with Plaff adding his second goal in the 57'.
The Dolphins two shots came off the foot of
Augustine Ameruso, his first testing Plattsburgh St. keeper Kiernan Kirby into a save.
Rich Diodati played the final 45' in goal for CMSV and despite allowing four goals, the senior keeper turned away six shots.
