NEW YORK, NY - The CMSV Softball team returned to action on Wednesday afternoon, traveling to Randall's Island to take on Purchase College in a Skyline Conference doubleheader. The Panthers no-hit the Dolphins to earn a 1-0 game 1 victory, but in game 2 CMSV broke out scoring 9 runs to win 9-2, improving to 10-6 overall and 2-2 in conference play.
In game 1, Panthers starting pitcher no-hit the Dolphins, striking out five batters and issuing one walk. CMSV starter
Rachel Heizer took the tough-luck loss, as the junior pitched splendidly for 7.1 innings. She allowed only two hits and struck out four batters.
Once the game went into extra innings, each team starts out the inning with a runner on second base. For the Dolphins in the top of the 8th, they were only able to advance the runner to third. The Panthers won the game in the bottom of the 8th on an RBI single to left center field by the no. 9 hitter.
In game 2, the Dolphins bats broke out of their game 1 slump.

Mackenzie Heizer to start the 2nd inning and shut out the Panthers over the final 6 innings, allowing only five hits.
R. Heizer provided the offense, going 3-for-4 with 2 runs scored and 2RBIs.

Deanna Nardi both had two hits and two runs scored.
