Dolphins Can't Solve Knights Pitching; MSMC Sweeps DH

JAMAICA, NY - The CMSV Softball team returned to action on Monday afternoon, hosting Skyline Conference rival Mount Saint Mary's College in a doubleheader.

The Knights won game one,  1-0 thanks to a one-hitter by their starting pitcher. In game two, the Knights held the Dolphins without a run for the final six innings, earning a 6-2 win.

Mackenzie Heizer started in the circle for the Dolphins and took the tough luck loss, as the senior threw 8 innings, scattering 7 hits, while striking out two batters.

She was matched by Cindy Connoly who limited the Dolphins to one-hit over 8 innings, while striking out 9 batters. Connoly supplied the offense for the Knights, driving in the game-winning run with a two-out single up the middle to give MSMC a 1-0 lead.

In game two, Knights starter, Bridget Bennett allowed only five hits, while giving up two earned runs.

The Dolphins got on the board in the bottom of the 1st. Rachel Heizer drove in two runs on a double to right field, allowing Taylor Wittick and Alanna Alioto-Reyes to score.

The Knights answered, scoring two runs in the second inning, then one more in the third to take a 3-2 lead.

They would put the game away in the 6th inning, scoring three runs and allowing Bennett to finish off the game.
