Dolphins Split At Ramapo Tri-Match

CMSV falls to Ramapo; Sweeps St. Joe's-BK

RAMAPO, NJ - The CMSV Men's Volleyball team returned to action on Saturday afternoon, taking part in a Skyline Conference tri-match, hosted by Ramapo College. CMSV split in their two matches, first falling 3-1 to Ramapo, then sweeping St. Joseph's-Brooklyn, putting their record at 11-10 overall and 3-1 in conference play.

In the match against Ramapo, senior Tyler Cucullu tallied a team-high 17 kills, 14 digs and two total blocks. Neven Skoblar added eight kills, 11 digs and two total blocks while setter Logan Dickover had 38 assists to go along with 12 digs.

After dropping a competitive first set 27-25 to the Roadrunners, the Dolphins responded by taking the second set 25-23. Trailing 21-18, the Dolphins got right back in the set thanks to back-to-back kills by Owen Smith and Cucullu but the teams would trade points and the Dolphins still trailed. Down 23-21, CMSV closed out the set winning the final four points, taking advantage of four straight Ramapo attack errors.

In the third and fourth sets the Mount struggled to control the ball, hitting in the negative for both sets, as well as having more errors than kills.

In their second match, the Dolphins were never really challenged, as the Bears combined for only 11 kills and -.063 hitting percentage. CMSV had more kills in the first set (14) than St. Joseph's had in the entire three sets (11).

Sean O'Connor led all players with nine kills, one off hi career-high, while Scott Sawyer added eight. Dickover tallied 15 assists to go along with a season-high seven kills.
