NEW YORK, NY - The field for the 2017 Skyline Conference Women's Basketball Championship is set, following the conclusion of regular season play, which wrapped up on Saturday evening. The CMSV Women's Basketball team earned the No. 4-seed, meaning they will host on No. 5-seed Farmingdale State on Tuesday February 21 at 7pm in the Sharp Center.
This marks the fourth straight season the Dolphins have qualified for Skyline postseason action. First round action begins on 2/21, followed by the semifinal round on Thursday 2/23 and the conference final being played at the home of the highest remaining seed on Saturday 2/25.
The Dolphins finished up the season with a 17-8 record overall and a 13-5 mark in Skyline play. CMSV and Sage wound up tied for the No. 3-seed but by virtue of tie-breakers, the Gators were awarded the No. 3-seed, while the Dolphins settled for the No. 4-seed.
The Dolphins and Rams played twice during the regular season, with each winning on the others home court. The first match-up, played on January 17th, saw the Dolphins explode for 52 points in the second half, erasing a 15-point halftime deficit to win 83-82, which extended their winning streak to seven games. The second matchup, played on February 18th, saw Farmingdale St. spoil 'Senior Day', winning 74-61. The Dolphins struggled from 3-point land, shooting only 23% for the game, including not making a single shot from distance for the entire second half.
