NEW YORK, NY - The CMSV Women's Basketball team returned to action on Tuesday night, traveling into Manhattan to take on Skyline Conference foe Yeshiva University. The Dolphins took control in the second quarter and would earn a 86-57 win, improving to 17-7 overall and 13-4 in conference play.
Brittany Carroll led all scorers with 22 points as the senior connected on 6-of-8 from 3-point land.
Kristen Merrell added a season-high 20 points, while
Christina Barone added 19 points.
The Dolphins played from behind early in the first quarter, getting down by as much as six points but back-to-back 3-pointers by Caroll evened the score at 13-13 with 3:46 remaining. Another 3-pointer by Caroll with seven seconds left in the quarter, gave CMSV their first lead of the game, which they would not relinquish for the rest of the game.
Two Yeshiva free throws in the second quarter would cut the Dolphins lead down to two but CMSV would end the half on a 21-4 run to take a commanding 19 point lead into halftime.
In the third quarter, CMSV's lead would continue to swell, rising to as much as 33 points after a fast break layup by Merrell made the score 66-33 nearly midway through the quarter.
In the fourth quarter, CMSV clamped down and held Yeshiva to just nine points as they would cruise over the final 10 minutes to a 29 point victory.
