Box Score Riverdale, N.Y. - It didn't take long for the women's basketball team to realize victory was on the horizon. In a road matchup with Skyline Conference-rival Sarah Lawrence College, the Dolphins cruised to a dominant 70-point victory when they defeated the Gryphons 84-14. Mount Saint Vincent is now an impressive 4-1 thus far with a 3-1 conference record, while the Gryphons stand at 1-4.
Senior Kristen Merrill continued her standout season in terms of points, as she paced all Dolphins with 18, raising her per-game total to a team-high 16.2. Freshman guard
Leah Pinili also impressed on Wednesday night, as she scored nine points with a career-high four assists. The team's bench played a pivotal role in the winning effort as well, as freshman
Aria Rheams had another strong performance with 16 points and 10 rebounds (her second double-double this season), while
Gabriela Goldman and
Lola Plamenco had 10 points apiece. The defensive effort was dominant, too, as Sarah Lawrence shot just 13.6% from the floor.
The next challenge for the Dolphins will be Mount Saint Mary, who will visit the Sharp Center on Devember 9.
