Men's Basketball Brings Record To .500 With Win Over Gryphons

Box Score Riverdale, N.Y. - On Tuesday night, the College of Mount Saint Vincent's men's basketball program traveled to Bronxville, New York to take on Sarah Lawrence College for their third Skyline Conference matchup this season. Fortunately for the Dolphins, they collectively rose to the occasion, as a stifling defense and balanced offensive attack resulted in a 70-47 victory. CMSV brought their record up to 3-3 on the season - including 2-1 in conference play - while the Gryphons fell to 1-8 in 2017.

After a quick 10-0 run to begin the contest, the Dolphins never looked back. Starters Andrew Curiel, Ammad Alkhulaidi and Raiquis Harris all performed admirably throughout the first 20 minutes, as the trio combined for 18 points, 16 rebounds and three assists. The team's effort on the opposite end of the floor was also positive, as they held the Gryphons to a field goal percentage of 23% in the first half. By the time the second half rolled around, it was the Dolphins' bench that were key contributors to the winning effort. The combination of Jason Barrera, Mike Mulligan and Vinny Tavella scored five, seven and seven points, respectively, en route to the 23-point win.

CMSV had four different players score double-digit points, including Alkhulaidi (13), Harris (12), Mulligan (12) and Barrera (11). Curiel was one point and one rebound shy of notching his first double-double of the season.

The men's basketball team now turns their attention to USMMA, who they'll face off against on December 10.
