Box Score Riverdale, N.Y. - Despite a valiant effort in the game's final minutes, the College of Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins came up short against the United States Merchant Marine Academy, losing their second straight Skyline Conference game by the score of 69-62. The Dolphins now sit at 4-3 on the season with an even .500 record (3-3) in conference play. The Mariners improved to 6-2 with four wins in five games against Skyline opponents.
Despite holding the Mariners to just 30% shooting from the floor, the Dolphins struggled in that department as well, as they sported a field goal percentage of 35% while being forced to commit 23 turnovers. Both Tichina Camron and Kaleigh D'Acry were trouble for CMSV as they combined for 31 points and 16 rebounds. Shelby Peters was also a menace on the boards and she pulled in a game-high 15 rebounds.
For the Dolphins, senior
Kelly Nola paced all scorers with 18 points while chipping in nine rebounds and five assists, each of which were a team-high. Junior
Kelly Oliver chipped in with 11 points and seven boards while Kirsten Merrell,
Kaitlin McGeown and
Leah Pinili scored seven, seven and five points apiece.
The Dolphins will look to back after the Holiday season, as they will take part in the Coaches vs. Cancer Holiday Classic Tournament, which will be hosted by Lehman College on December 28.
