Box Score RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Soccer team earned a key Skyline Conference victory over Maritime College, 4-0, at Marillac Field on Saturday, October 7, 2017. The Dolphins now bump their record to 3-7 overall and 2-2 in Skyline play.
Mount Saint Vincent scored two goals in the first half and added two more in the second half to clinch the win.
The Dolphins' first goal came in the Erin Dailey received a lateral pass from freshman midfielder Emma Dell'Aquila and launched the ball into the back of the net, to put the home team up 1-0. Just over a minute later, Maritime (4-5-1, 1-3-0 Skyline) committed a foul in its own penalty area, allowing Mount Saint Vincent a penalty kick opportunity. Senior forward Kelly Gibison took advantage of the opportunity and shot the ball past the goalkeeper into the cage, bringing the Dolphins up 2-0 at the end of the first half.Â
Just over seven minutes into the second half, senior forward Julia McGowan received a through pass from freshman midfielder Grace Barry and tipped the ball into the net from inside the box, to extend CMSV's lead to 3-0. In the 73rd minute, senior defender Joyce Pagliuca tallied a goal on a long shot from 40-yards out, giving the home team a four-goal advantage. Mount Saint Vincent went on to win the Skyline match 4-0.
This afternoon, the Dolphins had the advantage in shots 42-2 and had the edge in corner kicks 7-0. Senior goalkeeper Elizabeth Martin stopped one shot to earn the shutout win.
Mount Saint Vincent will be back in action on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 for a Skyline match at Purchase College, beginning at 7Â p.m.Â
