Box Score Riverdale, N.Y. - The Mount Saint Vincent Dolphins appeared more than ready for the Skyline Conference playoffs on Wednesday. In the team's final regular season game, they cruised to a nine goal shutout victory against Yeshiva University.
From the first whistle, it was all Dolphins, as CMSV scored four of their nine tallies in the first half. The women got on the board early, as senior
Kelsey Wasnesky scored her first goal of the season just 1:42 into the game. Eleven minutes later, it was freshman
Grace Barry who gave her team a two goal advantage when she connected on her second goal of 2017 with a shot from 40 yards out. Both
Nicole Weber and
Alicia Forgione put the ball past Yeshiva goalie Rivka Lindenblatt before the half concluded.
And the dominance continued over the final 45 minutes of play.
After a quiet start to the second half,
Erin Dailey scored her sixth goal of the year in the 62nd minute, extending the lead to five. Next was
Julia McGowan, who scored two straight goals within five minutes of each other. The senior had six points in the afternoon, as she also assisted on both Wasneskey's and Weber's goals. Senior
Joyce Pagliuca finished off Yeshiva with goals in the 74th and 75th minutes, respectively, to put the game out of reach.
Despite the outpouring on offense, the defense, too, was on top of it's game. Yeshiva put just one shot on goal in the contest, as
Elizabeth Martin secured her third straight shutout.
The Dolphins are hot at the right time, as they enter the Skyline Conference playoffs positioned as the third seed. They'll host the first game of the postseason on Saturday afternoon on Marillac Field.
