Dolphins Shut Out Rams For Fifth Conference Victory

Box Score Riverdale, N.Y. - For the second consecutive game, Mount Saint Vincent's men's soccer team was victorious. And for the second straight game, it came against a Skyline Conference rival.

After besting Sarah Lawrence College on Sunday, the Dolphins captured a home victory against the Farmingdale State Rams by the score of 2-0.

As is with every Conference matchup, this was a physical contest. CMSV and Farmingdale combined for 37 fouls, with the home team coming away with a majority of them (23). But despite the rough play, the Dolphins were able to overcome it by being the superior squad on both sides of the field.

Just two minutes before the first half concluded, Julius Tumukunde potted his third goal on the season to give his team a one-goal edge. And in the 63rd minute of play, senior Andrew Gomez scored his team-high eighth goal of 2017, which was enough cushion for the Dolphins to come away winners.

But the defense, too, was stout in their play. Despite facing 19 shots, Padelis Astrinidis turned away each one of them, en route to a shoutout.

With the Dolphins collecting their fifth conference victory, they'll be in a prime position to succeed come playoff time. They have three more games until the postseason begins.
