Box Score Riverdale, N.Y. – Despite far-from-ideal weather conditions, the College of Mount Saint Vincent was able to secure a Skyline Conference victory over Purchase College by the score of 3-2.
Throughout the first half of the contest, it was all Dolphins, as senior forward
Julia McGowan scored two goals within five minutes of one another (38
th and 43
rd minute) to give CMSV an early edge. Freshman midfielder
Emma Dell'Aquila aided in McGowan's efforts, as she was awarded an assist on the first goal.
Before the half concluded, the Purchase Panthers cut into the lead, as freshman Cerissa DiValentino notched her 10
th goal of the year to lower the deficit to one.
With rain soaking both the players and field, the game continued into the second half. DiValentino once again scored for the Panthers, which tied the game at two.
But the Dolphins were fast to respond. Just four minutes later, senior midfielder
Erin Dailey helped her team regain the lead with her fourth goal of the season. A strong defense was able to secure the victory over the final minutes of the contest.
CMSV now sits with an overall record of 4-7 with a Skyline record of 3-2.
