MADISON, NJ - The CMSV Men's Soccer team opened up the 2016 season on Saturday afternoon taking on FDU-Florham in the opening game of the Drew University Fall Festival.
Andrew Gomez netted an equalizer in the 87' to tie the game at 2, less than two minutes after the Devils had scored to take a 2-1 lead.
CMSV scored first in the 41' when sophomore
Tim Guido put home a penalty kick to give his team a 1-0 lead. The referees awarded a PK to the Dolphins when a FDU player commited a handball in the penalty area.
Freshman
Padelis Astrindis started in goal for the Mount and played all 110' making nine saves, including a key save in the final minute of the 2OT.
Gomez's goal came on a free kick in the 87' that the junior bent into the upper right corner from just outside the 18' box.
Gomez nearly won the game in the 1OT when his shot from distance hit the crossbar in the final 30 seconds of the game.
