BROOKLYN, NY - The CMSV Baseball team returned to the diamond Wednesday afternoon, taking on non-conference foe NYU in a single, nine inning game played at MCU Park.
The Dolphins took advantage of six NYU errors to win the game 7-6 and improve to 7-21 on the season.
CMSV got on the board right away in the top of the first scoring four runs.
Brandon Pasquale started it off with a two run single through the left side then
John T McEwan smacked a two-run double to give Dolphins starter
Frank Angeles a four run cushion.
NYU chipped away at the four run Dolphins lead in their half of the first, putting two runs on the board but CMSV came right back out in the second and put two runs across to get the lead back to four runs.
Steven Giustino singled up the middle driving home
Joseph Senisi and the Pasquale would score on an error, one of six committed by NYU on the day.
Keith Brodesser would score the Dolphins seventh run of the game in the sixth inning thanks to an error by the NYU catcher.
Angeles got into trouble in the sixth inning, loading the bases and allowing three runs to score but he was bailed out by
Evan Brown who came in, in relief to induce an inning ending groundout to preserve the 7-6 Dolphin lead.
CMSV relievers Brown and
Joseph Crosser combined to pitch 3.1 innings allowing only two hits, with Crosser picking up his second career save.
The Dolphins return to action Saturday when they will close out Skyline Conference play with a DH vs. SUNY Old Westbury at 12pm.
