RIVERDALE, NY - The CMSV men's basketball team took on Yeshiva University on Wednesday night in a key Skyline Conference matchup. The Maccabees defeated the Dolphins 83-67, dropping CMSV to 8-12 overall and 7-8 in conference play.
CMSV was led by
Jamir Ferebee who poured in 21 points on 50% shooting from the field,
Trevor Johnson was the only other Dolphin to crack double figures as the freshman tallied 11 points.
The Dolphins were done in by Yeshiva's hot shooting, the Maccabees shot 55% from the field and 53% from 3-point land.
CMSV led only briefly early in the first half, so they had to play catch up the entire game. Yeshiva took control of the game during a six minute stretch when they went on a 14-1 run to turn a 7-5 deficit to a 22-8 lead with 10:23 left in the half.
With 8:36 remaining until halftime,
Mike Mulligan would make al layup to cut the lead to eight points but Yeshiva would answer with one of their six made three pointers of the first half. The Dolphins would get no closer for the remainder of the game.
In the second half, CMSV got some solid contributions from recent JV call-up
Mamadou Mariko who grabbed seven rebounds and scored six points in 15 minutes of action.
The Dolphins return to action Saturday when they will travel to Long Island to take on St. Joseph's College-Long Island where they will look to complete the season sweep of the Golden Eagles.
