Dolphins Snap 2 Game Losing Streak With Win Over St. Joe's-Brooklyn

Barone Scores 16 In Win

BROOKLYN, NY - The CMSV Women's Basketball returned to action on Saturday afternoon, taking on Skyline Conference foe St. Joseph's-Brooklyn at the Hill Center.

The Dolphins snapped their two game losing streak, downing the Bears 77-72, behind a solid all-around game from Christina Barone, who led her team with 18 points, eight rebounds, and six assists. Freshman Dez Browne had the best game of her career tallying 14 points and grabbing seven rebounds and Brittany Carroll scored 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field.

Browne led the Dolphins in the first quarter putting in six of her 14 points in the period. After a made Bears layup with 7:00 left in the period to give the home side a 7-4 lead, the Dolphins would end the period on a 13-3 run to take a 17-10 lead at the end of one quarter of play.

The Dolphins maintained their lead throughout the second quarter, led by their senior back-court of Carroll and Barone who scored 13 of the teams 18 points in the quarter.

In the third CMSV expanded their three point halftime lead all the way up to 14 points by the quarters end. Eight of the nine Dolphin players that were on the court in the third scored a point.

The Dolphins would push their lead to a high of 17 points after two possessions, thanks to 1-of-2 made free throws by Kristen Merrell and a layup by the junior as well to make the score 64-47 with 9:34 remaining.

The Bears would not go away though, chipping the Dolphins lead all the way down to two in the final minute, but Barone made 3-of-4 from the line in the final seconds to maintain the Dolphins lead.
