RIVERDALE, NY - The CMSV Men's Basketball team opened up Skyline Conference play on Thursday night, hosting Yeshiva University. The Maccabees led for the majority of the game and downed the Dolphins 68-56, dropping CMSV to 1-3 on the season.
Trevor Johnson and
Andrew Curiel came off the bench to lead the Dolphins with 12 and 11 points respectively. Curiel tallied his first double-double of the season grabbing a game-high 12 rebounds.
Myron Hickman added 10 points, while
Jason Barrera chipped in with nine points and 10 rebounds.
Hickman opened up the scoring for the Dolphins on the teams first possession, it would be their only lead of the game. Yeshiva answered with a 15-0 run to take a 15-2 lead less than six minutes into action. Yeshiva would push their lead to 16 points halfway through the period, but CMSV would chip away over the final 10:13 of the half.
CMSV would cut the lead down to four points with 41 seconds left after
David Collins made a layup to cut the lead to 30-26. The Maccabees would score 20 seconds later to give themselves a 32-26 lead at halftime.
The Dolphins would cut the lead down to three less than four minutes into play in the second half after Curiel nailed a 3-pointer to make the score 34-31, they would cut the lead down to three twice more in the second half but, Yeshiva's ball movement would prove too much for CMSV. The visitors had assists on 11 of their 14 second half field goals.
