ASTON, PA - The CMSV Women's Basketball team wrapped up play at the season opening Neumann University Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday afternoon, as they took on Wesley College in the consolation game. The Dolphins lost 62-56, to fall to 0-2 on the season.
Three Dolphins scored in double-figures, led by
Ryan Doherty's team-high 14 points, while
Christina Barone added 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists and
Allison Clarke scored 10 points.
Doherty, who averaged 14.5 pts/g in the two game tournament was the lone Mount student-athlete named to the All-Tournament team.
The Mount hung tough in the first half, despite sub-par shooting in the first quarter. The defense kept them in the game as they forced 12 turnovers in first 20 minutes of action. In the second quarter, the team clamped down on Wesley as they held their opponents to 2-for-20 shooting from the field to pull within four points at halftime.
The Dolphins finally found some offensive flow in the fourth quarter as Barone and Doherty each scored seven points. The Mount would take their first lead of the game on a Barone jumper with 2:26 to go but Wesley would hold the Mount scoreless down the stretch to win 62-56.
