NEW YORK, NY - The CMSV Women's Volleyball team returned to action Tuesday night, traveling to Hunter College to take on the Hawks in a non-conference matchup. The Dolphins were swept by the Hawks 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-22) dropping their record to 6-10 on the season.
The Dolphins were unable to find any rhythm in their game over the course of the three sets, as they were only able to manage 29, 20 of which came off the right arm of
Tara Maloney, compared to the Hawks total of 44 kills.
The Dolphins surged ahead midway through the first set, taking advantage of back-to-back Hawk attack errors and forcing Hunter into a timeout after
Patsy Sewell smashed a kill to make the score 12-8.
The Mount continued to lead for the next several points but a five point run by the Hawks gave them a 20-18 lead and closed out CMSV in the first set winning five of the final seven points.
In the second set, the Dolphins struggled to find a rhythm and lost control of the set during a seven point run, where the home side won six points to take a 15-7 lead.
In the final set of the night, the Dolphins looked to be in control early jumping out to a 9-3 lead but the Hawks attack took over winning 15 of the next 18 points to take an 18-12 lead.
