The College of Mount Saint Vincent men's soccer team earned a Skyline victory over Purchase College, 4-0, at the Athletic Field at Marillac
on Saturday afternoon. The Dolphins bump their record to 4-2 in Skyline matches and 5-7-1 overall.
Mount Saint Vincent got on the board in the 21
st minute, as senior midfielder
Pablo Tellez received a through ball from classmate
Kevin Jardines and tipped it into the net to give the home team the lead for good. Six minutes later, junior midfielder
Andrew Gomez received the ball off a corner kick by Jardines and kicked it into the back of the net to extend CMSV's lead to two goals.
In the 42
nd minute, sophomore midfielder
Guy Horcasitas earned a free kick opportunity and placed the ball in the box. It went off of Gomez and to junior midfielder Joseph Llamuch who tipped it into the net, to put Mount Saint Vincent up 3-0. That would be the score going into intermission.
The Dolphins' lone goal in the second stanza came in the 54
th minute, as junior forward
Jair Magallan received the ball off a cross from Jardines and shot it into the net to increase the home team's lead to 4-0, and that would be the final score.
Mount Saint Vincent outshot Purchase (0-11-1, 4-2-0 Skyline) 24-8, while also having the edge in corner kicks, 11-2. Senior goalkeeper
