RIVERDALE, NY - The CMSV men's basketball team returned to action on Monday night, taking on St. Joseph's College-Long Island, in a Skyline Conference matchup. The Dolphins defeated the Golden Eagles 88-74, to even their record at 6-6 on the season and improve to 5-2 in conference play.
Sophomore
Jamir Ferebee, led all scorers with a career-high 29 points, on 9-of-14 shooting from the field and 4-of-7 from 3-point land. He also grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds to notch his 2nd double-double of the season.
Jesse Regina came off the bench to score 13 points and
Kahlil Shorter stuffed the stat sheet chipping in with three points, five rebounds, six assists, three steals and one block.
St. Joe's opened up the game on fire from three-point land, as the Golden Eagles made their first five three's to open go up 15-8, just over four minutes into the game. They continued to lead the Dolphins until an
Andrew Curiel layup made the score 21-15 with 13:19 to go in the half and over the next four minutes CMSV went on a 13-0 run to take a 26-21 lead with 9:46 to go until halftime.
The Golden Eagles would not go away as they stayed within striking distance, eventually taking a 34-33 and again at 36-35 with 2:33 remaining until halftime But over the final two minutes of play went on an 8-0, capped off by a four-point play by Ferebee to take a 43-36 lead into halftime.
CMSV continued their run to start the 2nd half, opening up on an 11-2 run to take a commanding 55-38 lead, that they would not relinquish the rest of the game. St. Joe's would chip away at the lead and get to within nine points with 9:08 to go but the Dolphins would go on a 15-4 run over four minutes to take a 20 point lead.
CMSV returns to action Thursday night when they will take on Famingdale State at 7pm at the Peter Jay Sharp Center.
