Box Score BRONX, N.Y. (Sept. 29, 2015) – The Mount St. Vincent women's volleyball team defeated visiting Hunter College, 3-1, in an extremely close match on Tuesday night at the Sharp Center to improve to 4-8 overall on the season, while the Hawks fell to 7-7.
The Dolphins won the first set, 25-23, but Hunter evened the score at 1-1 after a 25-22 second-set victory. Mount took the third set, 25-22, and outlasted the Hawks in the fourth set, 27-25, to capture the victory on the night.
Senior
Ashleigh Scozzari (New Rochelle, N.Y.) led all players in the game with 23 kills, which was her fifth 20+ kill effort of the season. She also hit a team best 31.9-percent (23K, 8E, 47A).
Sophomore
Nicole Henderson (Bergenfield, N.J.) dished out a career-high 49 assists on the night, while also recording a double-double with 10 digs. Junior
Maria Leineweber (Waimanalo, Hawaii) also had a double-double with 16 kills and a match-high 20 digs.
For Hunter, sophomore Julia Connolly had a team-high 14 kills, while also picking up 15 digs. Freshman setter Miranda Hogan led the team with 45 assists and classmate, libero Haley Trunkett, picked up a team-best 18 digs.
The Mount will return to action this Friday night, Oct. 2, when they travel over to nearby Bronxville, N.Y., to take on Skyline Conference rival Sarah Lawrence. First serve is set for 7 p.m. at the Gryphons' Campbell Sports Center. Live stats for the match can be accessed by
