BRONX, N.Y. (Sept. 29, 2015) – The Mount St. Vincent women's volleyball team defeated visiting Hunter College, 3-1, in an extremely close match on Tuesday night at the Sharp Center to improve to 4-8 overall on the season, while the Hawks fell to 7-7.
 
The Dolphins won the first set, 25-23, but Hunter evened the score at 1-1 after a 25-22 second-set victory. Mount took the third set, 25-22, and outlasted the Hawks in the fourth set, 27-25, to capture the victory on the night.
 
Senior Ashleigh Scozzari (New Rochelle, N.Y.) led all players in the game with 23 kills, which was her fifth 20+ kill effort of the season. She also hit a team best 31.9-percent (23K, 8E, 47A).
 
Sophomore Nicole Henderson (Bergenfield, N.J.) dished out a career-high 49 assists on the night, while also recording a double-double with 10 digs. Junior Maria Leineweber (Waimanalo, Hawaii) also had a double-double with 16 kills and a match-high 20 digs.
 
For Hunter, sophomore Julia Connolly had a team-high 14 kills, while also picking up 15 digs. Freshman setter Miranda Hogan led the team with 45 assists and classmate, libero Haley Trunkett, picked up a team-best 18 digs.
 
The Mount will return to action this Friday night, Oct. 2, when they travel over to nearby Bronxville, N.Y., to take on Skyline Conference rival Sarah Lawrence.
