Martin makes seven saves in loss

Camden, N.J. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Soccer team returned to action on Wednesday afternoon, falling on the road at Rutgers-Camden by a score of 2-0. Sophomore goalkeeper Elizabeth Martin (Lawrenceville, N.J.) finished the game with seven saves for the Dolphins.
 
Rutgers-Camden outshot Mount Saint Vincent 9-1 in the first half on Wednesday and finally broke through with the eventual game winning goal in the 34th minute. Kelly Barbone potted her second goal of the season off a chip pass from Aubrey Andrews to move the Scarlet Raptors in front by a goal late in the first half.
 
The Scarlet Raptors took all four corner kicks in the opening stanza, with Martin making four stops to keep Mount Saint Vincent to within a goal heading into halftime.
 
The one goal advantage held until Rutgers-Camden spread its advantage to two tallies in the final minute of regulation time. Barbone scored her second goal of the game at 89:51, converting a feed from Cassandra Torres at the top of the box to close out the scoring in the game.
 
Rutgers-Camden finished the game with a 22-2 advantage in shots overall and a 9-1 edge in shots on goal. The Scarlet-Raptors took each of the seven corner kicks awarded during the contest, with fouls in the match going against Rutgers-Camden 14-6.
 
Sophomores Erin Dailey (East Windsor, N.J.) and Kelly Gibison (Waterford Works, N.J.) each recorded a shot in the game for the Mount, with Dailey posting the team's lone shot on goal.
 
Martin finished the game with seven saves in the game for Mount Saint Vincent, stopping three shots for the Mount after halftime. Katie Gurba picked up the win in goal for Rutgers-Camden with a single save in the contest.
 
Following Wednesday's loss, Mount Saint Vincent drops it to 1-3 overall on the season. The Dolphins will return to action on Saturday when they open conference play against Old Westbury. Kick-off in Riverdale is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
