Mount Saint Vincent is coming off a 2014 season that saw it advance to the semifinal round of the Skyline Conference Tournament for the first time in program history. The Dolphins did not graduate a player from last season's team and return the team leader from 2014 in kills, assists, digs, service aces and total blocks.
Senior
Ashleigh Scozzari (New Rochelle, N.Y.) is back after setting a single season program record in kills in 2014 with 319 and also paced the Mount in digs with 268 and total blocks with 76. She was made a First Team All-Skyline Conference selection for the third straight year as a junior.
Sophomore
Nicole Henderson (Bergenfield, N.J.) returns to the Mount Saint Vincent lineup after earning Second Team All-League recognition as a freshman a season ago. She handed out 613 assists for the Mount, a single season record, and led the Dolphins in service aces with 72. She was named the Skyline Conference Rookie of the Week four times in 2014.
Mount Saint Vincent also welcomes back senior
Jennifer Roman (Queens Village, N.Y.) who lifted 244 digs and totaled 66 service aces as a junior. Junior
Maria Leineweber (Waimanalo, Hawaii) put away 184 kills and recorded 33 total blocks as a season ago, while senior
Zana Daluz (Pawtucket, R.I.) finished the season with 108 kills and 38 total blocks.
The Dolphins will look for increased contributions from returning players:
Erika Moncada (Yonkers, N.Y.),
Jane Greer (Bronx, N.Y.),
Ana Rodriguez (Bronx, N.Y.),
Shannon Walsh (Yonkers, N.Y.),
Kristine Javier (Fair Lawn, N.J.),
Rachel Gabriel (Yonkers, N.Y.) and
Nichole Riehm (Irvington, N.Y.).
Aponte will also look to a talented incoming class for immediate contributions in 2015. The newcomers include:
Aryanne Santiago (Jersey City, N.J.),
Chrissy Sewell (Yorba Linda, Calif.),
Patsy Sewell (Yorba Linda, Calif.) and
Amanda Laudani (Staten Island, N.Y.).
Mount Saint Vincent, who finished the 2014 at 14-16 overall, will continue its road trip with four matches at the Profs Invitational hosted by Rowan September 4-5 and a match at Rutgers-Newark on September 8 before opening its home schedule on September 12 against Arcadia and William Paterson.
