ALBANY, NY - The CMSV women's basketball team took on the Sage Gators on Tuesday night, falling 68-58 and dropping their second straight Skyline Conference game. The loss drops the Dolphins to 6-5 overall and 3-2 in conference play.
Brittany Carroll led the Dolphins, scoring 16 points off the bench, on 6-of-12 shooting from the field, including 3-of-6 from 3-point land. CMSV had three players score 10 points each,
Theresa Carey,
Christina Barone and
Kelly Nola.
The first half was extremely close with the Gators largest lead being 3 points and the Dolphins largest lead being 4 points. CMSV took a 28-27 lead into halftime, thanks to a layup by Nola with no time remaining.
The 3rd quarter began much like the first two, with the teams trading baskets but the Gators would push their lead to six points with 6:25 to go in the quarter. They would push their lead to as much as nine points at 49-40, early in the 4th quarter but the Dolphins finally found some offensive rhythm, going on a 9-2 run to cut the lead to 51-49 after a 3-pointer from Carroll.
Carroll would connect on an old fashioned 3-point play with just over three minutes remaining to trim the Gators lead back to two, but that would be as close as the Dolphins would get for the remainder of the game.
CMSV closes out 2015 with one more game, when they will take on SUNY Old Westbury at 12pm on December 12 on Long Island.
