JAMAICA, NY - The CMSV Women's Basketball team took on York College on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference matchup. The Dolphins came away with a 69-63 victory to improve to 4-3 on the season.
Brittany Carroll tallied a team-high 14 points, while
Christina Barone led the way for the Dolphins with a great all-around game, tallying 12 points, seven assists and four steals.
Kelly Nola chipped in with 11 points and four steals, while
Theresa Carey and Kristen Merrill each scored 10 points.
The Dolphins and Cardinals played tough in the first quarter but the offense stalled in the second, as the team made only one field goal. and went into halftime trailing 27-20.
In the third quarter, the Dolphins offense awoke as the team scored 30 points but still found themselves 52-50 heading to the fourth quarter.
In the final period, the Dolphins made their first two shots to take a 54-52 lead with just over a minute gone by in the quarter. During a four minute stretch, CMSV used a 7-1 run to take a 64-57 lead with just under three minutes remaining. Carey was 2-for-2 during the run, making two key jumpers to propel the Dolphins.
CMSV would make their free throws down the stretch to secure a 69-63 victory.
