POTSDAM, NY - The CMSV Dolphins took on Springfield College on Friday afternoon in a quarterfinal matchup in the Potsdam Regional at the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Dolphins fell in straight sets to the Pride by the scores of 25-8, 25-13 and 25-16.
The second and third sets, were where the Dolphins played more in control and on their game as they kept it close throughout much of the early portion of the 2nd set. After a kill by
Ashleigh Scozzari cut the lead to 6-5, the Pride went on a 7-0 run to put some distance between the two teams.
In the final set the Dolphins fell behind early but they were able to regain control and begin chipping away at the Pride's lead.
Erika Moncada smacked a kill to cut the lead to 14-9 to keep her team in the match. The Pride would grow their lead to 20-13 but the Dolphins wouldn't go away, forcing the pride to earn their victory.
In the programs first ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament, the Dolphins fought hard during all three sets but the Pride's height and attacking prowess proved to be to much for them to overcome.
The Dolphins finish 2015 with 17 wins, tied for the most in the school's history and they will say goodbye to six seniors, Erika Moncada, Ashleigh Scozzari, Jennifer Roman, Zana Daluz, Shannon Walsh and Rachel Gabriel. Â
