Women’s Soccer Suffers Non-Conference Loss to Kean, 3-0

Box Score COLLEGE OF MT. ST. VINCENT Riverdale, NY---Despite a valiant effort by the Dolphin backs who never made anything easy for the Kean (NJ) forwards all afternoon long, CMSV suffered a non-conference home loss, 3-0.  The Dolphins drop to  2-9 overall on the season.  The Cougars improve to 7-4-1 with the win.  NEXT UP:  @ St. Joseph's College (LI)| Skyline Conference Action | Saturday, 10/10 | Opening Kick - NOON.  

The Dolphins did not back down from Kean who has competed with and defeated nationally ranked teams, trading shots with the Cougars through the first twenty minutes of the match.  However, in the 29th minutes, Kean's Mallory Noordeloos was in the right place at the right time in traffic, able to drill the winning goal from 25 yards out straight away.  

The Dolphins had an opportunity to tie the match just before haltime, but sophomore forward Alicia Forgione's kick sailed a bit high.

Kean would come out much more aggressively in the second half, getting four unanswered shots in a five minute span within the first ten minutes of the period.  The Cougars wound up capitalizing in the 70th minute on another goal in traffic that came by way of deflection for Kean's Emily Jurcsek.  

Jurcsek would also score the match's final goal in the 85th minute inside the box head on.  

The Dolphins made an effort to avoid the shutout, however, sophomore forward Kelly Gibison's breakaway shot from the right wing was saved in the final minute of the match.  

CMSV got strong physical play from junior defenseman Casey Coyle who time and again throughtout the match changed the opponent's direction or slowed down a possible advantage.  

The Cougars outshot the Dolphins 19-15.  

CMSV's Julia McGowan and Caroline Criscuola led the way with three shots a piece.  

Despite allowing the three goals, sophomore goalie Elizabeth Martin, made a number of athletic plays away from the goal that helped CMSV regain possession.  She would finish with six saves.
