Box Score 2 RIVERDALE, NY - In the CMSV Women's Volleyball season finale, the Dolphins hosted a Skyline Conference Tri-Match squaring off against Purchase College and SUNY Maritime on Saturday afternoon.
The Dolphins swept both the Panthers and Privateers 3-0 to wrap up regular season play with a 15-13 overall record and 9-1 record in Skyline play to earn the #1 seed and quarterfinal bye for the upcoming Skyline Women's Volleyball Championships.
CMSV 3 vs Purchase 0 (25-10, 25-10, 25-10) The Dolphins dominated play over the Panthers, taking all three sets by the score of 25-10.
The team controlled play from the beginning using a 13-1 run early in the set to take a 14-4 lead. The run was led by the Dolphins serving duo of
Jennifer Roman and
Chrissy Sewell who combined for four aces during the run.
Patsy Sewell closed out the Panthers in the first set with five straight aces, to secure the 25-10 set victory.
in the 2nd and 3rd sets the Dolphins put on an atttacking clinic as the team smashed 15 kills in the 2nd set, while hitting .650% and smashed 16 kills while hitting .542% in the 3rd set.
Ashleigh Scozzari led the way with 19 kills and two solo blocks while hitting .720%.
Maria Leineweber had six kills, four digs and two aces.
Nicole Henderson dished out 32 assists, with P. Sewell and Roman finishing with nine and eight aces respectively.
CMSV 3 vs. SUNY Maritime 0 (25-17, 25-12, 25-17)The first set started out back and forth as the Privateers stayed within striking distance early on. But the Dolphins would take control with the score 16-13, when they would win nine of the next 13 points to close out the set 25-17.
The second and third sets were dominated by the Dolphins as the team totaled 27 kills and a .378 hitting percentage in the two sets combined.
Scozzari once again led the way with 23 kills and three total blocks, while Leineweber had 10 kills, two total blocks and four digs. Henderson dished out 40 assists.
The Dolphins clinch the #1 seed on the basis of tiebreakers for the upcoming Skyline Women's Volleyball Championships and will earn a bye and home court advantage throughout the Championships. They will take on the winner of the #4 vs. #5 match.
