McGowan's Hat Trick Leads CMSV to Convincing Win

Box Score Julia McGowan netted her first career hat trick and College of Mount Saint Vincent registered a stunning 48-0 advantage in shots, as the Dolphins dominated a depleted Sarah Lawrence squad by a score of 6-0 on Tuesday afternoon at Marillac Field.

Alicia Forgione, Rita Guglielmo and Victoria Astorino also added goals in the win for the Dolphins.

Kelsey Wasnesky and Courtney LaTorre etched their names on the score sheet with assists, picking up one helper each.

With the win, Mount Saint Vincent improves to 4-10 on the year with a 2-4 mark in conference.  With the defeat, Sarah Lawrence falls to 4-10 on the season with a 1-8 record in league play.

The Dolphins struck early, as McGowan scored in the third minute to put Mount on top, 1-0.  The sophomore from Pearl River, N.Y., dribbled on the right side, eluding defenders before keeping a ball on the ground to the far post for the goal.

The Dolphins kept the pedal to the medal for the rest of the half, but were unable to convert.  At the intermission, Mount Saint Vincent held a 26-0 lead in shots and a 6-0 advantage in corners.

After coming so close but failing to score in the final 42 minutes of the second half, the Dolphins wasted no time getting back on the score sheet to begin the second stanza.

McGowan added her second and third goals just 45 seconds apart from one another, registering tallies at the 48:06 and 48:51 marks of the game.  The Albertus Magnus product's second goal came unassisted off a rebound in front, while her third was the result of a deft touch from Wasnesky into the box that McGowan promptly buried.

22 minutes later, Forgione made it 4-0 for the Dolphins, finishing a cross from the right side by LaTorre.

Just 32 seconds after that, Astorino forced a turnover in the Sarah Lawrence end and finished on the breakaway, stretching the Dolphin advantage to five.

Less than three minutes later, Guglielmo capped the day's scoring for the Mount by netting the second goal of her Dolphin career.

The Dolphins return to action on Saturday afternoon, hosting Maritime in Riverdale.  First kick is scheduled for 11am.
