Schmitt Places Second At Dolphin Invitational

Junior won three bouts in home meet

Riverdale, N.Y. - The College of Mount Saint Vincent Wrestling program hosted the third annual Dolphins Invitational on Saturday. Junior Karl Schmitt (Westbury, N.Y.) led the Mount with three bout wins on his way to a second place finish his weight class.

Competing in the 174A pound bracket on Saturday, Schmitt went 3-1 for the Mount. He picked up a 5-3 decision over Bridgewater State's Bobby Gasdia at the meet and also pinned Bergen Community College's Anthony Freyre 3:14 into the bout.

Patrick Polintan picked up a victory for Mount Saint Vincent via forfeit in the 165 pound bracket, while Trae Brooks (Watertown, N.Y.) went 1-3 in the 174B pound division. Brooks' lone win on the day came with a pin of Bergen Community College's Wesley Dwyer 5:40 into the matchup.

Following Saturday's showing, Mount Saint Vincent will be back on the mat on January 17 when it heads to Kings Point, N.Y. for tilts with USMMA, McDaniel and Washington and Lee starting at 11:00 a.m.
