Brooklyn, N.Y. – Led by two goals from
Alicia Forgione (Lawrenceville, N.J.) and four points from sophomore
Megan DeRosa (Cornwall, N.Y.), the College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Soccer team opened the season with its second straight win after an 8-0 blanking of York on Thursday evening.

Mount Saint Vincent opened the game up early on Thursday night, striking five times in the opening half. Senior
Shannon Doyle (Central Islip, N.Y.) got the scoring started in the 12th minute when she buried a passing play from DeRosa and
Taylor McGinn (East Rockaway, N.Y.) Â for the eventual game winning goal at 11:22.

Doyle struck again just under six minutes later off an assist from
Kelly Gibison (Waterford Works, N.J.) for a 2-0 lead 17:12 into the contest. DeRosa found the scoring column in the 21
st minute off a rebound from her own shot before
Courtney LaTorre (Denville, N.J.) tallied her first career goal on a through ball from
Erin Dailey (East Windsor, N.J.) at the 28:08 mark of the tilt.

Mount Saint Vincent would close out the scoring in the first half and carry a 5-0 lead into halftime when Forgione scored her third goal of the season after forcing a turnover and converting a rebound with just under eight minutes remaining in the opening stanza.

The Dolphins dominated the first half on Thursday, outshooting the Cardinals 22-0. The Mount also took the only two corner kicks taken in the first period.

Coming out of halftime Gibision got into the scoring column for the first time this season and for the first time in her career when she finished off a pass from DeRosa in the 59
th minute.
Caroline Criscuola (North Merrick, N.Y.) became the fourth Mount Saint Vincent player to score her first career goal in the game in the 71
st minute, before Forgione tallied her team leading fourth goal of the season in the 74
th minute off a pass from
Julia McGowan (Pearl River, N.Y.).

The Mount finished the game with six different players with a goal and with 10 players with at least one point. DeRosa posted a goal and two helpers for the Dolphins, with Gibision finishing with a goal and an assist.

For the second straight game to open the season, Mount Saint Vincent used three goalkeepers with
Elizabeth Martin (Lawrenceville, N.J.) earning the win in her first career start.
Sophia Cunningham (Flushing, N.Y.) and
Kerilyn O'Keeffe (Bronx, N.Y.) also saw action in the game, with Cunningham making the Mount's only save of the game. Kiara Liberos made 10 stops in the game for York.

For the game, Mount Saint Vincent outshot York 36-1, including 18-1 in shots on goal. The Mount took all five corner kicks in the game and fouls in the contest were whistled 4-2 against the Dolphins.

Thursday's win moves Mount Saint Vincent to 2-0 overall on the season. The Dolphins will return home on Saturday afternoon to play host to John Jay. Kick-off at the Athletic Field at Marillac is set for 12:00 p.m.
