Bronx, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Volleyball team won for the third time in its last four outings on Wednesday night with a 25-23, 25-23, 25-17 road win at cross-town rival Lehman. Junior
Ashleigh Scozzari (New Rochelle, N.Y.) led all players in the match with 14 kills.

Mount Saint Vincent jumped out 12-8 lead in the opening set on Wednesday before Lehman used a 15-6 run to open a 23-18 lead late in the stanza. The Dolphins would rally with the final seven points of the set to come-from-behind for the one set advantage. Lehman committed four errors over the final run and Scozzari put away a pair of kills to aid the run.

The Dolphins used a 13-7 run in the second set to pull in front 22-13 following a
Shannon Walsh (Yonkers, N.Y.) service ace. From there, Lehman scored the next nine points, before the Dolphins hung on to score three of the final four points to move in front 2-0 on the night. Scozzari hit .364 with six kills in the middle frame for the Dolphins and Walsh picked up two service aces for the Mount.

The deciding set on Wednesday would feature a series of runs from each side, leading to five ties and four lead changes. The Mount opened the set with an 8-3 spurt, with Lehman responding with an 11-6 stretch to take a 17-16 lead on a Mount Saint Vincent attack error.

Trailing by a point in the middle stages of the set, Mount Saint Vincent would tally the last nine points of the night to pick up its third road win of the season. The Dolphins forced Lehman to hit -.087 in the third frame and used six service aces to take the match.

Scozzari was the only player in the match to reach double-figures in kills with her 14. She hit .357 for the night and added three aces and eight digs. Sophomore
Maria Leineweber (Waimanalo, Hawaii) finished with eight kills for the Mount to go along with two digs and a block.

Freshman setter
Nicole Henderson (Bergenfield, N.J.) rounded out the night with a match-high 24 assists and added four digs. Junior
Jennifer Roman (Queens Village, N.Y.) paced the team with nine digs and added three aces, while
Zana Daluz (Pawtucket, R.I.) chipped in with three aces and three digs.

Cari English led the Lehman attack with nine kills, while Salveira Gonxalez put away eight kills. Julia Mercado and Lizette Medina paced the Lightning with eight digs each, while Imani Dubois handed out a team-high 17 assists.

Despite hitting .089 for the match, Mount Saint Vincent finished with a 29-25 advantage in kills on the night. The Dolphins also posted an 11-9 edge in service aces, while Lehman held a slim 3-2 advantage in total team blocks.

Wednesday's victory improves Mount Saint Vincent to 5-9 overall on the season. The Dolphins will be back in action again on Saturday when they open Skyline Conference play at home against Sarah Lawrence. Match time with the Gryphons is set for 10:00 a.m.
