Records Fall As Mount Saint Vincent Cruises Past Sarah Lawrence

Riverdale, N.Y. - The College of Mount Saint Vincent set three program records on Saturday in 10-1 conference win over Sarah Lawrence. In addition to setting new standards in goals, points and shots, Dennis Reyes (Waldwick, N.J.) matched the program record for goals in a game with four and consecutive games with a goal.

Reyes matched the program record with a goal in his seventh straight game when he scored his first of four goals in the game just 2:44 into the tilt. He collected a turnover off of a Sarah Lawrence goal kick and buried a shot inside the right post for the early 1-0 lead.

After Finn MacMillan knotted the score at 1-1 for Sarah Lawrence in the sixth minute, Mount Saint Vincent scored the final nine goals of the game. Reyes struck with his second goal of the game off a pass from Pablo Tellez (El Monte, Calif.) just 46 seconds after the MacMillan goal for his third game winner of the season.

Sophomore Kevin Jardines (South Gate, Calif.) scored two goals in the first half for the Mount with Reymond Velete (Concordia, Calif.) adding the first two goals of his career before halftime. Eduardo Arce (Chula Vista, Calif.) and Diego Hernandez (Bethlehem, Pa.) each posted their first career points in the first half with assists.

Reyes picked up his fourth goal of the game in the 56th minute on Saturday off a pass from Jardines and Hernandez scored his first career goal in the 77th minute for the Mount. Jaime Salazar (Long Beach, Calif.) closed out the scoring in the game with his third goal of the game in the final minute.

Reyes became the third player in program history to score four goals in a game as he posted his fourth multi-goal game of the season and his second hat trick. Jardines scored his first goal since netting three in the season opener and closed the game with five points after adding an assist.

The Dolphins had nine players with at least one point in the game and showed three payers with at least one goal and one assist. Salazar posted a goal and two helpers in the game with Hernandez posting a goal and a helper. Mario Lopez (Suffern, N.Y.) and Joseph Llamuca (Brooklyn, N.Y.) each picked up an assist in the game for the Mount.

In addition to setting program marks with 10 goals and 28 points, the Mount also got off a program record 43 shots. The Dolphins held the edge in the category 43-3 and in corner kicks 9-2.

David Melchor (Los Angeles, Calif.) picked up the win in goal without making a save as the Mount won back-to-back games for the first time this season. Michael Giraldi (Sicklerville, N.J.) made one stop for the Mount in just over 33 minutes of work. Nikos Estratudakis took the loss for Sarah Lawrence, making 12 saves in the loss.

With Saturday's win, Mount Saint Vincent gets back to the .500 mark at 5-5 overall and improves to 2-1 in conference play. Next up for the Dolphins in a non-conference road game at Arcadia on October 1. Kick-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
