Jamaica, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Volleyball team split a pair of non-conference matches on Saturday, downing York 25-17, 25-16, 21-25, 25-16 before falling to William Paterson 19-25, 20-25, 25-27. Sophomore
Maria Leineweber (Waimanalo, Hawaii) had a strong day for the Mount, totaling 22 kills over the two matches.

The Dolphins picked up their second straight win in Saturday's opener after putting away 36 kills against York. The Mount also added 17 service aces in the win, following up a 31 ace performance on Friday night against Cooper Union.

Playing in her second match of the season, Leineweber paced the Dolphins with 11 kills to go along with three digs and a block assist. She hit .217 for the Dolphins in the contest. Junior
Ashleigh Scozzari (New Rochelle, N.Y.) added 10 winners in the match and added a team-high seven service aces and seven digs.
Zana Daluz (Pawtucket, R.I.) put down eight kills in the contest on her way to hitting .429.

Freshman
Nicole Henderson (Bergenfield, N.J.) handed out a career-high 26 assists for the Dolphins to go along with a team-high nine digs.
Jennifer Roman (Queens Village, N.Y.), who posted 13 aces on Friday night, picked up six more aces against the Cardinals. She joined Scozzari with seven digs in the match for the Mount.

York was led by 16 kills and a .429 hitting percentage from Stayce Kay Muirhead who also added four total blocks. Kiranjeet Kaur handed out 21 assists for the Cardinals and Alison Li led all players with 11 digs.

For the match, Mount Saint Vincent held a 36-34 advantage in kills and a 17-8 edge in service aces. York took the team blocking battle, 8-3.

In the second match of the day, the Mount was upended by William Paterson after hitting just .018 as a team. Leineweber and Scozzari combined for 21 of the team's 29 kills in the contest, with Leineweber collecting 11 more winner and Scozzari reaching double figures in kills for the third time this season with 10. Leinweber lifted four digs and added two blocks, while Scozzari posted 15 digs and five total blocks.

Henderson completed her second solid match of the day with 20 assists and seven digs, while
Kristine Javier (Fair Lawn, N.J.) lifted a career-high 18 digs. Roman rounded out the day with 11 digs for Mount Saint Vincent to go along with one service ace.

Shauna VanDeRee posted a match-high 12 kills for William Paterson, while hitting .308 in the match. Danielle Koukos handed out a match-high 21 assists for the Pioneers and Nicole Spicer led three players with double figures in digs with 13.

William Paterson held the advantage in kills for the match 31-29 and service aces 7-6. Mount Saint Vincent finished the contest with a slim 6-5 advantage in total team blocks.

After the split on Saturday, Mount Saint Vincent stands at 2-8 overall on the season. Next up for the Dolphins is a non-conference road match at Staten Island on September 24. Match time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
