Mahwah, N.J. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Volleyball team was back in action on Friday evening, dropping a pair of 3-0 non-conference decisions at Ramapo. The Dolphins were downed by Ithaca by scores of 24-26, 9-25 and 15-25 before falling to the host Roadrunners by set scores of 16-25, 9-25 and 21-25. Freshman Nicole Henderson (Bergenfield, N.J.) wrapped up the Ithaca match with a double-double for the Mount.
 
The Dolphins used a five point run early in the first set against Ithaca to jump out to an early 8-3 advantage. The Mount took advantage of four Ithaca miscues in the run and received a kill from junior Zana Daluz (Pawtucket, R.I) to build the early lead.
                                   
Mount Saint Vincent would maintain the first set lead and move in front by a score of 20-15 before Ithaca closed with 11 of the final 15 points in the set to take the one set advantage. Despite making six attack errors, the Bombers hit .286 in the first set, while the Dolphins managed just a -.031 hitting percentage.
 
Mount Saint Vincent would hit below .000 again in the second set, committing six attack errors against just four kills in the middle stanza. The Dolphins would rebound with seven kills in the third frame against Ithaca, but could not overcome an 8-0 Bomber run that moved it in front 10-3. The Dolphins would pull even at 15-15 after a 6-0 run, but saw Ithaca close out the match with the final 10 tallies to earn the sweep.
 
Junior Ashleigh Scozzari (New Rochelle, N.Y.) totaled six of the team's 17 kills in the match and added five digs. Daluz added three winners for the Mount with Jennifer Roman (Queens Village, N.Y.) adding a pair of kills and six digs.
 
Henderson posted team highs in the match with 10 assists and 12 digs on the way to her second career double-double. Henderson and Erika Moncada (Yonkers, N.Y.) each finished the match with a pair of service aces for the Dolphins.
 
Ithaca was paced by 13 kills from Joelle Goldstein who hit .357 for the match. Molly Brown led all players with 18 assists with Kayla Growman lifting a match-high 15 digs.
 
For the match, Ithaca held the edge in kills 39-17, service aces 9-6 and total team blocks 5-1. The Bombers hit .237 as a team against .011 for the Dolphins.
 
In the second match of the night, Mount Saint Vincent was topped in straight sets by Ramapo, falling to the Roadrunners for the second time this season. The Mount led only once in the match against the Roadrunners, taking a brief 1-0 lead after a Ramapo attack error to open play in the third set.
 
Mount Saint Vincent finished the match hitting -.012 as a team, recording 15 kills and committing 16 attack errors. Ramapo totaled 36 winners in the tilt on its way to hitting .184 as a unit.
 
Scozzari was again the team's leader in kills against the Roadrunners, putting away five winners and adding a season-high 11 digs. She also paced the Mount with a pair of total blocks.
 
Freshman Jane Greer (Bronx, N.Y.) totaled four kills in the match for Mount Saint Vincent and hit .400 in 10 total attempts. Henderson totaled 12 more assists and eight digs with Kristine Javier (Fair Lawn, N.J.) adding a career-high 13 digs.
 
Ramapo received 13 kills, nine digs and six service aces from Larysa Iwaskiw. Kaitlin McIver handed out a match-high 25 assists with Emily Harris totaling a match-high 15 digs.
 
In addition to holding the advantage in kills, Ramapo wrapped up the night with a 16-1 edge in service aces and a 4-2 advantage in total team blocks.
 
Following Friday's results, Mount Saint Vincent falls to 0-6 overall on the season. The Dolphins will return to play on September 16 when they make the short trip to the College of New Rochelle. Match time with the Blue Angels is set for 7:00 p.m.
