Mount Saint Vincent Scores Come-From-Behind Victory At Hunter

New York, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Men's Soccer team evened its overall record and earned its first road win of the season on Wednesday afternoon with a come-from-behind 4-2 win at Hunter. Freshman Dennis Reyes (Waldwick, N.J.) potted three goals for the Mount in the win.
 
For the fourth straight game to open the season, Mount Saint Vincent allowed the first goal of the game and for the second time fell behind 2-0. Hunter got on the board in the 20th minute when Brandon Fiscina netted his first goal of the game on a penalty kick. Fiscina would strike again for the Hawks in the 26th minute when he scored an unassisted tally to push Hunter in front by a pair.
 
Mount Saint Vincent would get on the board at the 28:06 mark of the match when Reyes potted his first goal of the game off a feed from sophomore John Everson (Greenwood Lake, N.Y.). The Dolphins would pull even with just under three minutes left before halftime when Jonathan Barajas (Chestnut Ridge, N.Y.) collected his first goal of the season to knot the score at 2-2.
 
The Mount held an 11-6 advantage in shots over the first 45 minutes of play on Wednesday and took three of the four corner kicks in the first half. Hunter goalkeeper Emmanuel Aprilakis was forced to stop seven shots in the first half to keep Mount Saint Vincent to just the two tallies.
 
The Dolphins would get the only two goals in the second half to complete the comeback victory. Reyes scored twice for the Mount in a two minute stretch late in the second half to secure the win for Mount Saint Vincent. His fourth goal of the season and second game winning marker came at the 78:58 mark and he added an insurance goal off a pass from Andrew Gomez (Sun City, Calif.) with 9:08 remaining in regulation time.
 
Reyes posted the second multi-goal game of his young career on Wednesday and now stands as the team leader in both goals with five and points with 12 after adding an assist. Gomez picked up his team leading third assist in the game and Kevin Jardines (South Gate, Calif.) picked up his first point since the season opener with an assist on the day.
 
Eduardo Arce (Chula Vista, Calif.) made his first career start in goal for the Mount and secured his first career win on Wednesday. He made a pair of saves in the game for the Dolphins. Aprilakis wrapped up the game with eight stops for Hunter.
 
Mount Saint Vincent allowed just one shot in the second half on its way to a 19-7 edge in category for the game. The Dolphins took seven corner kicks in the game with fouls in the contest going against the Mount, 9-8.
 
Wednesday's victory moves Mount Saint Vincent to 2-2 overall. The Dolphins will be back in action again on Sunday when they travel to Danbury, Conn. to take on Western Connecticut. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
