Dolphins to play first game on campus in program history

Riverdale, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Soccer team will open the 2014 season at its new home on Sunday afternoon when it welcomes Lehman to the Athletic Field at Marillac. Kick-off with the Lightning is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. with live stats available for those who can't attend the game here.

Mount Saint Vincent will look to build on a successful 2013 season that saw it qualify for the Skyline Conference Tournament and postseason play with and ECAC Tournament berth for the first time in program history. The Dolphins registered single season records in wins (11), goals (58), assists (31), points (147) and team goals against average (1.55).

Although the Dolphins lost their top six scorers from 2013, they return a talented core and an impressive group of newcomers that will look to fill the void. Seniors Shannon Doyle (Central Islip, N.Y.), Sophia Cunningham (Flushing, N.Y.) and Samantha Fioravanti (Fresh Meadows, N.Y.) return for their fourth season, with Doyle standing as the top returning scoring after posting eight points a season ago.

Sophomore Erica Lencsak (Hazlet, N.J.) returns to anchor the backline and was made a Second Team All-Conference selection after a strong freshman season for the Dolphins. She finished with three points on a goal and an assist from the defensive position last season.

Other returning players looking to help the Dolphins improve on their 11 win 2013 season include Taylor McGinn (East Rockaway, N.Y.), Casey Coyle (Freehold, N.J.), Courtney LaTorre (Denville, N.J.), Victoria Astorino (Warwick, N.Y.) and Laura Schools (East Northport, N.Y.).

Third year head coach Giuseppe Pennetti will also rely on a group of 15 newcomers to make an immediate impact in the lineup in 2014. The talented incoming class includes: Elizabeth Martin (Lawrenceville, N.J.), Joyce Pagliuca (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.), Kelly Gibison (Waterford Works, N.J.), Gianna Petito (Toms River, N.J.), Nicole Weber (Flushing, N.Y.), Erin Dailey (East Windsor, N.J.), Elizabeth Gancalves (Howell, N.J.), Megan DeRosa (Cornwall, N.Y.), Julia McGowan (Pearl River, N.Y.), Kerilyn O'Keeffe (Bronx, N.Y.), Caroline Criscuola (North Merrick, N.Y.) Lauren Tate (Toms River, N.J.), Alicia Forgione (Lawrenceville, N.J.), Kelsey Wasnesky (Easthampton, N.J.) and Rita Guglielmo (Howard Beach, N.Y.).

Mount Saint Vincent closed out the 2013 season at 11-9 overall and at 4-4 in conference play.
