Newburgh, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent was dealt an 89-51 Skyline Conference loss on Saturday afternoon at Mount Saint Mary. Freshman guard Kahlil Shorter (Staten Island, N.Y.) was the only Dolphin in double-figures after finishing with 13 points.
 
Mount Saint Vincent never led in the game, but cut an early 10-4 deficit to a single point on a on an Antonio Johnson (Fort Johnson, N.Y.) layup with 11:44 to play in the first half. The Dolphins would get the Mount Saint Mary lead down to a single point two more times over the next two minutes of action, but could not pull even with the Knights.
 
Following a Shorter three-pointer with 9:55 to play in the period that got the Dolphins to within 15-14, the Knights closed the half on a 24-9 run to carry a 39-23 lead into the intermission. The Mount was held off the board for two minutes following the Shorter triple and saw Mount Saint Mary score nine of the final 11 points of the half. The last Mount Saint Vincent score in the frame came on a Shorter conversion with 1:50 left.
 
Mount Saint Vincent was held to 29.7-percent shooting in the first period, while the Knights finished up 17-for-30 from the floor and 3-for-6 from three-point range. Joe Henain led all players after 20 minutes of play with 16 points on 7-for-10 shooting and 11 rebounds.
 
The Dolphins would get their deficit down to 12 points with the first two buckets of the second half, but Mount Saint Mary used a 20-11 stretch to push its lead to 59-38 at the midway point of the second half on a Henain jumper.
 
Mount Saint Vincent would get as close as 18 points the rest of the afternoon. The Mount Saint Mary advantage ballooned to 25 points on a Dante Howell conversion with 6:25 left and to 77-46 on a Jason Oder three-pointer with just under four minutes left in regulation. The Knights took the final 38 point decision on a Robert Taylor tip-in with one second left in the contest.
 
The Knights dipped to 54.8-percent shooting after halftime to finish the game at 55.7-percent overall. Mount Saint Mary shot an even 50-percent from three-point range and outscored the Dolphins 42-26 in the paint and 15-6 in second chance points.
 
Henain finished 9-for-12 from the floor on his way to a game-high 24 points and a game-high 18 rebounds. Joe Stabach added 17 points on 7-for-10 shooting, including three triples, and Howell closed a strong game with 13 points and a game-high nine assists.
 
Mount Saint Vincent shot 31.3-percent overall on Saturday and 3-for-16 from three-point distance. Shorter went 6-for-12 from the floor on his way to his 13 point performance, just one point shy of his career-high. Gerard Fraser (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Johnson each netted eight points and the duo each pulled down six rebounds. Johnson totaled three assists and a game-high three steals for the Dolphins.
 
With Saturday's loss, Mount Saint Vincent falls to 7-14 overall on the season and to 5-9 in Skyline Conference play. The Dolphins will be off until Thursday when they play host to Farmingdale State. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
