Dolphins Head To Top-Seeded Farmingdale State For Semifinal Round of Skyline Tournament

Dolphins to play first conference tournament game since 2009-10 season

Riverdale, N.Y. – The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Basketball team will travel to top-seeded Farmingdale State on Thursday for the Semifinal Round of the Skyline Conference Tournament. The Dolphins, who have been absent from the tournament since the 2009-10 season, and the Rams will tip-off at 7:00 p.m. on the campus of Farmingdale State. You can follow with Live Stats and Video.
 
History
Mount Saint Vincent last appeared in the Skyline Tournament during the 2009-10 season when it fell to Mount Saint Mary in the semifinal round. Prior to the three year tournament appearance drought, Mount Saint Vincent appeared in the event the previous seven seasons.
 
The Dolphins will enter Thursday's contest with 17 victories on the season, the most since reaching 18 wins in the 2009-10 campaign. The Mount posted an impressive 13-1 record at home during the 2013-14 regular season, but went just 4-7 away from the Peter Jay Sharp Center, including a 69-58 road loss to the Rams on Sunday in the regular season finale.
 
A Look At The Dolphins
Junior Kelly Fraser (Staten Island, N.Y.) paces the Dolphins in nearly every category heading into Thursday, including scoring average at 17.4 points per game and rebounding average with 13.1 per outing. Fraser is the conference leader in rebounding and blocked shots and sits fifth in scoring through regular season play.
 
Fraser also ranks among the top-10 nationally in three categories, including third in the country with 19 double-doubles. She sits seventh in blocked shots per game and eighth in rebounds per game. She has been named the league's Player of the Week four times to date this season.
 
Freshman Christina Barone (Staten Island, N.Y.) also stands among the conference and national leaders after pacing the Dolphins with 151 assists. The mark tops the conference rankings and she also leads the way in the league in assist-to-turnover ratio. Barone also ranks 12th nationally in assists per game. In addition to distributing the ball, Barone is averaging 8.5 Points and 3.6 rebounds per game and is pacing the Mount with 57 steals.
 
The Mount's top threat from three-point distance is freshman Brittany Carroll (Staten Island, N.Y.) who has knocked down a team-high 48 triples. She is third on the team in scoring at just shy of 10 points per game. Classmate Brittany Lee (Newton, N.J.) is good for 10.0 points per night for the Dolphins and is second on the team with six double-doubles. She is posting 6.8 rebounds per game and is second on the team in steals with 47.
 
Scouting Farmingdale State
The Rams wrapped up the regular season with a 16-8 overall mark and a 13-1 record against league rivals. The only conference blemish on the Rams' slate came in a 66-59 home loss to Purchase on January 18.
 
Farmingdale State has three players scoring in double-figures led by Camille Romero who is good for just shy of 20 points per game. Nicky Young is good for 16.2 points, 8.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game and Andrea Desvignes is putting up 10.5 points per contest. Lushanta Savadel paces the Rams on the glass with 9.2 rebounds per outing.
 
The Series
Farmingdale State took both regular season meetings in 2013-14 and finished the year with a 13-1 mark against Skyline Conference opponents. The Dolphins have not defeated the Rams since February 21, 2009 when the Mount posted a 102-98 victory.
 
Since the start of the 2003-04 season, Mount Saint Vincent has a 2-19 record against Farmingdale State, including a 0-2 mark in Skyline Conference Tournament play.
 
Mount Saint Vincent closed out the regular season with a 17-8 overall record and a 9-5 mark in league play.
