Dolphins Match Single Season Wins Record With Road Victory At Maritime

Throggs Neck, N.Y. – Freshman Megan DeRosa (Cornwall, N.Y.) scored her second career hat trick and matched the program record for goals in a game with four goals in a 7-0 league road win at Maritime. The win is the Mount's sixth straight, a program record, and matches the program's single season win mark of 11.
 
DeRosa got the scoring started for the Dolphins in the 25th minute when she scored her 12th goal of the season and her team leading sixth game winning goal. She finished off an assist from Casey Coyle (Freehold, N.J.) for the first of three first half goals for Mount Saint Vincent.
 
Just under 11 minutes later, freshman Erin Dailey (East Windsor, N.J.) doubled the Dolphins' lead with her fourth goal of the season, an unassisted tally 35:25 into the contest. Victoria Astorino (Warwick, N.Y.) closed out the scoring in the first half 10 seconds after the Dailey tally, taking a pass off the restart from Gianna Petito (Toms River, N.J.) for her fourth goal of the season.
 
Mount Saint Vincent dominated the opening 45 minutes on Wednesday, holding a 15-0 advantage in shots. Corner kicks in the first period were even at 1-1.
 
Coming out of halftime, DeRosa scored her second and third goals of the game in the first four minutes of the second stanza. Her 13th goal of the season came at 45:58 and her 14th came at 48:33. Julia McGowan (Pearl River, N.Y.) picked up her 12th assist of the season on DeRosa's second goal with Kelsey Wasnesky (Easthampton, N.J.) and Coyle helping on the third tally.
 
DeRosa matched the program record with her fourth goal of the game in the 63rd minute when she took a long lead pass from McGowan and finished of her team leading 15th goal of the year. It marks the fourth time a player has scored four goals in a game with Katherine Gentsch reaching the mark the other three times.
 
McGowan would close out a four point day with her fourth goal of the season in the 68th minute and moved into second place on the team in points with 21. She leads the team with 13 assists on the year and joined Coyle with two helpers on the night.
 
With her scoring output on Wednesday, DeRosa moves to within three goals of the single season record and matches the single season mark for game winning goals. With her next point she will match the single season standard for points in a season.
 
Freshman Elizabeth Martin (Lawrenceville, N.J.) earned her ninth win of the season without making a save in the game after working 62:34 in goal on Wednesday. Kerilyn O'Keeffe (Bronx, N.Y.) saw 27:26 of action for the Mount in the game.
 
Mount Saint Vincent closed out the game with a 36-1 advantage in shots and an 8-1 edge in corner kicks.
 
The win pushes Mount Saint Vincent to 11-2 overall on the season and to 3-1 in league play. The Dolphins will return home on Saturday to welcome Sage. Kick-off at the Athletic Field at Marillac on Saturday is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
