Brooklyn, N.Y. - The College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Soccer team got back into the win column on Tuesday night following a 13-0 blanking of Medgar Evers. The Dolphins had 11 different players score a goal in the game, with
Alicia Forgione (Lawrenceville, N.J.) and
Julia McGowan (Pearl River, N.Y.) each scoring twice.
The Dolphins got off to a fast start on Tuesday and broke the game open with three goals inside the first five minutes of play. McGowan finished off her first career multi-goal contest with her second of the season at the 2:40 mark of the game and followed with her third of the year at 3:13. Forgione later added her sixth goal of her rookie season at the 4:22 mark of the contest.
Erica Lencsak (Hazlet, N.J.),
Courtney LaTorre (Denville, N.J.) and
Megan DeRosa (Cornwall, N.Y.) all picked up assists in the three goal stretch.
Mount Saint Vincent would go on to score six more times in the first half to carry a commanding 9-0 lead into halftime. Forgione added her second goal of the game in the opening period, while
Lauren Tate (Toms River, N.J.) scored her first career goal in the 28
th minute.
At the intermission, Mount Saint Vincent held 19-2 advantage in shots and a 2-1 edge in corner kicks. The Dolphins had 12 different players with at least one point before the break.
Mount Saint Vincent would finish the game with six players scoring their first goal of the season, including
Laura Schools (East Northport, N.Y.),
Taylor McGinn (East Rockaway, N.Y.),
Rita Guglielmo (Howard Beach, N.Y.),
Joyce Pagliuca (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) and
Kerilyn O'Keeffe (Bronx, N.Y.).
McGowan led the Dolphins with seven points on Tuesday after adding three assists to her two goal effort. Paglliuca, McGinna,
Gianna Petito (Toms River, N.J.), and
Nicole Weber (Flushing, N.Y.) all rounded out the game with a goal and an assist. DeRosa finished the game with a pair of assists for Mount Saint Vincent.
O'Keeffe made her first career start in goal on Tuesday and earned the win after making two saves in 45 minutes.
Shannon Doyle (Central Islip, N.Y.) made her first appearance in goal of the season, playing 45 minutes. Doyle also added a goal in the game for Mount Saint Vincent.
Tuesday's win improves Mount Saint Vincent to 6-2 overall on the season. The Dolphins will be right back on the field Wednesday night when they play host to Yeshiva. Kick-off at Gaelic Park is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
