Box Score
Bronxville, N.Y. – Senior Brandon Serrano (Hempstead, N.Y.) scored a game-high 22 points and was one of three College of Mount Saint Vincent players in double-figures as the Dolphins stopped a 12 game losing streak on Tuesday night with a 63-45 road win at Sarah Lawrence. Freshman Kahlil Shorter (Staten Island, N.Y.) supported the win with a career-high 11 points.

Mount Saint Vincent trailed by six points in the early going on Tuesday, before rallying with a 25-2 run covering seven-and-a-half minutes to move in front for good at 27-10 on a Serrano free-throw with 8:06 left in the opening half. Serrano and Shorter each scored eight points over the run, with Shorter knocking down a pair of three-pointers.

The Dolphins would hold a double-digit advantage the remainder of the night and would not allow the Gryphons closer than 11 points the rest of the game. The Mount shot just under 41-percent from the floor in the first 20 minutes of play and got 15 points from Serrano to lead Mount Saint Vincent to a 34-23 lead at halftime.

The Mount came out of halftime and scored 16 of the first 22 points in the period to open its largest lead of the night, at 50-29, on a Antonio Johnson (Fort Johnson, N.Y.) three-pointer with 11:41 to play in regulation time. Johnson bookended the run for the Dolphins, starting with a three-pointer to open the scoring in the half and capping the spurt with one of his three triples in the game.

Despite not converting a field goal over the final 5:46 of the contest, a Kevin Henry (Yonkers, N.Y.) conversion, Mount Saint Vincent went 6-for-6 from the free-throw line, all from Johnson, to close out the final 18 point decision.

The Dolphins had one of their strongest defensive efforts of the season on Tuesday, holding Sarah Lawrence to a season-low 45 points and also posting season bests in field goals allowed with 16, field goal percentage at 28.1 and three-point field goals made with two.
The Mount finished the night shooting 37.3-percent from the floor, but knocked down five three-pointers in the game and shot an even 70-percent from the free-throw line. The Dolphins closed out the night forcing 22 Sarah Lawrence turnovers, leading to 29 points and added a 12-3 edge in fast break scoring.

Serrano rounded out game 8-for-22 from the floor and 6-for-8 from the free-throw line on his way to scoring at least 20 points for the sixth time this season. He has led the Mount in scoring 10 times in 14 games. He grabbed five rebounds, blocked two shots and swiped three steals for the Dolphins in the win.

Johnson scored in double-figures for the sixth time this season and for the second straight game with 19 points on 5-for-12 shooting, including three triples, and a perfect 6-for-6 effort from the charity stripe. He matched the team-high with three assists and added six rebounds.

Shorter reached double-figures for the first time in his career after going 4-for-6 from the floor overall and hitting two threes. He closed out a solid all-around effort with four rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals. Henry chipped in with six points and a team-high 11 rebounds.

Sarah Lawrence got 19 points and 12 rebounds from Graham Gilleran who also blocked three shots. Stevan Radosavljevic led all players with 17 rebounds and also blocked two shots. Mat Gerak added 12 points off the bench for the Gryphons.

Tuesday's win pushes Mount Saint Vincent to 2-12 overall on the season and gives it its first victory since the season opener against Centenary. The Dolphins will look for consecutive wins for the first time this season on Saturday when they travel to St. Joseph's-L.I. Tip-off with the Golden Eagles is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
