Riverdale, N.Y. – College of Mount Saint Vincent Head Women's Volleyball Coach Meghan Flaherty '08 will begin her third season with the Dolphins this weekend at the Guetle Volleyball Invitational hosted by the Catholic University of America. The Mount will open the season on Saturday against Swarthmore and the host Cardinals.

Flaherty heads into her third season at the helm with 21 career victories and has led the Mount to the Skyline Conference Tournament in each of the past two seasons. Flaherty mentored a First Team All-Skyline Conference selection in each of her first two season's as well as the league's Rookie of the Year in 2012.

The Dolphins return said Rookie of the Year in
Ashleigh Scozzari (New Rochelle, N.Y.). Scozzari. A season ago, the rookie paced the Dolphins in kills with 232 and total blocks with 67. She was also second on the team in kills per set with 2.37.

Scozzari rounded out the season ranked first in the Skyline Conference in blocks per set in 2012 and became the first player to reach 200 kills in a season for the Dolphins since her head coach posted 268 during the 2007 campaign.

Mount Saint Vincent also returns
Zana Daluz (Pawtucket, R.I.) who led the way in assists with 548. Daluz rounded out the season third on the team in defensive digs with 240 and total blocks with 23. Â

Sophomore
Allison Regan (Carmel, N.Y.) closed her freshman season with a team-high 55 service aces in 2012 and finished up fourth on the team in both kills and total blocks. Classmate
Erika Moncada (Yonkers, N.Y.) returns after finishing the 2012 season fourth on the team in digs with 181.

Flaherty and the Dolphins also welcome back: senior
Madeleine Garaicoa (Glenwood, N.Y.) and sophomores
Alberita Rugova (New York, N.Y.),
Jennifer Roman (Queens Village, N.Y.) and
Rachel Gabriel (Yonkers, N.Y.).

A talented group of newcomers will also look to provide immediate production for the Dolphins. Newcomers in 2013 include: freshmen
Ana Rodriguez (Bronx, N.Y.),
Maria Leineweber (Waimanalo, Hawaii),
Cristina Buchanan (Bronx, N.Y.) and
Colleen Kallop (Bronx, N.Y.); as well as sophomore
Shannon Walsh (Yonkers, N.Y.).

After the first two matches of the season on Saturday, the Dolphins will end the two-day event with contests against Marymount and Eastern Mennonite on Sunday. Overall, the Dolphins will play their first eight matches away from home, before hosting New Rochelle on September 19.

Mount Saint Vincent closed the 2012 season with an 11-17 overall record and a 4-5 mark in Skyline Conference play.Â
