Box Score
Yonkers, N.Y. – Senior Gabriella Astorino (Warwick, N.Y.) scored the game winning goal and junior Kelly Hilly (Massapequa, N.Y.) earned the shutout in net as the College of Mount Saint Vincent Women's Soccer team posted a 2-0 win over Maritime on Saturday. The win marks the first time the Dolphins have won the conference opener since 2007 and 2013 is the first time the Mount has won both the season opener and league opener since 2006.

Mount Saint Vincent wasted little time getting the scoring started on Saturday when Astorino banged home the eventual game winner of the left post in the 11th minute. She took a pass from Charlotte Barnham (London, England) along the right wing and knocked her third goal of the season off the post and in.

Astorino's marker would be all the scoring in the first 45 minutes of play with Maritime holding a 7-4 advantage in shots heading into halftime. Hilly made one stop in the opening stanza to secure the halftime lead.

The Dolphins maintained their one goal advantage into the 57th minute on Saturday when Mandy D'Amico (Freehold, N.J.) converted her third tally of the season. Barnham fed a free kick off the keeper that D'Amico cleaned up inside the six yard box to close out the scoring.

Through seven games in 2013, Mount Saint Vincent has nine different goal scorers and 12 different players with a point. Astorino is fourth with eight points and her game winning tally was the third of her career. Barnham sits second on the team in points with 11 and sits atop the team rankings in assists with three.

Hilly moved her record to 3-2 on the season and recorded the team's fourth shutout on Saturday. She was forced to make three stops in earning the win. She now holds a 0.44 goals against average and a .895 save percentage. Her counterpart from Maritime, Kristen Hoar, recorded four saves.

With Saturday's win, Mount Saint Vincent improves to 5-2 overall on the season and to 1-0 in league competition. The Dolphins will return to action on Monday when they play host to Medgar Evers. Kick-off at Tibbetts Brook Park is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
